It is rather rare that I am able to give myself the opportunity to produce a video that I truly want to produce. But when I can find the time and have the financial availability, there is nothing more that I would rather do than try and produce something with complete creative freedom. On this page you will find a section of some of my favourite passion projects that I had made over the years.

A short film shot on iPhone 8In late 2018 a friend of mine informed me of a film festival that he was coordinating, that required the submitted films to be shot on smartphone. He wanted me to participate, and I didn't hesitate to say yes because I had the free time... and the submissions were due in a few weeks from the time that he informed me! So I quickly wrote a script, assembled my crack-crew, got casting, got prepping, and went into production on my birthday—which is how my crew came free of charge, as a birthday gift.
This film was completed for the tight deadline and it won 2nd place at the Western Smartphone Film Festival in 2019. |
A 24-hour film challengeAnother passion produced short film with a tight deadline, however that was the entire point of this film: a 24-film challenge. Three friends and myself heard about Film Racing's challenge to write, shoot, and edit a short film within 24 hours and we were intrigued. Film Racing gave us our topics at 11pm (which were an uninvited guest, a cookie, and a package) and we had to have the film completed entirely by 11pm the next day. By the end of the challenge we had 95% of everything you see in this final video, to which we submitted what we had. Afterward I went over the edit and added this missing elements, which were primarily the colour correction, titles, and better music (cant go wrong with Marvin Gaye).

Our trip to NewfoundlandOne of my favourite types of videos to shoot and edit has got to be travel footage compilations. This video here is my wife and I's trip to "the rock", where my immediate family all lives. We toured many of the main attractions of Newfoundland in our week there, including hiking Gros Morne Summit (the most exhausting hike I have ever done), a boat ride in the harbour of St. John's, visiting the town of Cape Spear, and more.
As you can probably tell from this video and the next, my wife clearly loves to spend time in front of the camera. |
Our trip to AlbertaEver since my wife arrived to Canada, she had been dying to visit Alberta. Eventually we managed to book a trip there, and we stayed with some friends of mine, who have been living there for quite some time. They took us to all their favourite spots to visit, and holy... Alberta is something else! This was also my first time on the westside of Canada, and I could not stop filming every sky-tearing mountain, aqua coloured lakes, and the nature that comes along with it. I cannot recommend enough that every person who lives in or visits Canada should definitely go to Alberta.
